DLSU USG Judiciary

The Judiciary is the third branch of the University Student Government that was established in 2008 through the USG Constitution. It is the sole body to be vested with judicial power, which includes the duty to settle actual controversies involving rights that are legally demandable and enforceable and to determine whether or not there has been a grave abuse of discretion amounting to lack or excess of jurisdiction on the part of any branch or instrumentality of the USG (Sec. 1, Art. XVIII, USG Constitution).

All applicants of committees under the Judicial Administration must not be a member of any DLSU political party at least one (1) academic term from the time of their application. While all applicants for the position of Judicial Administrator, Counsel Officer, Student Adviser and Magistrate shall not be a member of any DLSU political party for at least two (2) consecutive terms. (Art. II, Sec. 4)
All applicants of the Judiciary must not be a member of any student media organization at the time of their application. (Art. II, Sec. 5)

There shall exist a Legal and Judicial Council of the Judiciary, whose composition, powers, duties and responsibilities may be determined by the Magistrates En banc, provided: that in essence, its primary power is to regulate the practice of law in the USG. (Art. VI, Sec. 1)

- Magistrate in charge for Legal and Judicial Affairs as its Chairperson
- One Magistrate as a Regular Member
- The Inspector General as a Regular Member
- One representative from the Ombudsman Council as a Regular Member
- The Chief Magistrate of the Judiciary as an ex-officio member
- One Batch or Campus Legislator as an ex-officio member
- One elected or appointed officer designated by the Executive Committee of the USG as an ex-officio member
